Canon Says It cannot meet the Demand for EOS R3 Along With its Two New RF Lenses

Canon recently announced the launch of much awaited EOS R3 along with two RF lenses

As reported by Canon Rumors, Canon Japan almost immediately after the launch posted an apology on their website, which has listed these three products in their list of “short supply items.”

Since the apology posted in in Japanese language, here is the translated version of their apology:

“We have received a huge response to our newly launched camera and lenses resulting in demand which is much higher than we anticipated. Owing to this, it will take some time before they can be delivered.

We are extremely thankful to you for such huge response but at the same time apologise for the inconvenience caused because of the delay. We thank you all for your understanding.”

While this notice was published in July, but was updated recently to add  EOS R3, RF 16mm f/2.8 STM and the RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8 in the list. All newly designed accessories created for the re-designed hot shoe of the R3 have also been added to this “short supply list”.

The silicon chip shortage has been adversely affecting the entire electronic market whether it is automobiles, photography, or even computers. 

While Canon has posted an apology on delay but they have not given any timeline for restoring supplies to pre Covid levels. We do hope that this situation is short lived and will soon get back to normal.
