Nikon has announced the launch of their new Nikkor Z 28mm f/2.8 lens. The lens is designed for both APS-C and full frame mirrorless cameras.

The 28mm lens is small and compact with 1.7 inches long and weighing just 155gms. In fact it is the lightest and smallest Nikkor Z series prime lens. As per Nikon its small form factor makes it ideal for both photos and videos.

The lens has 9 elements in 8 groups, 2 of which are aspherical elements. The lens has a minimum focusing distance of 0.19meters and maximum angle of view of 53 degrees on DX format and 75 degrees on FX format cameras. Its 7-blade aperture diaphragm gives great soft bokeh. The lens also has a front filter ring diameter of 52mm. It has internal focusing and has both auto and manual focus.

As per Nikon, the lens uses a “multi-focusing system” that allows fast and accurate auto-focus. To ensure it is a good video lens, it is very quiet in use, has stable exposure and has minimal focus breathing.

The 28mm lens is “drip” and dust resistant. It also features a control ring to enable a photographer assign functions like aperture and exposure compensation.

The Nikkor Z 28mm f/2.8 lens is expected to hit the market sometime in December and should be available for Rs. 22,900/-
