Nikon has launched the 28-75mm f/2.8 Z-mount lens for full frame cameras. The lens is claimed to be a lightweight and versatile lens suitable for all types of photographers.
Owing to its light weight and a wide zoom range with constant f/2.8 aperture, the lens is suitable for varied genres like portraits and landscapes. It is also best suited for low light photography and video production.
The lens is constructed of 15 elements in 12 groups which includes one super extra-low dispersion elements and 3 aspherical elements. . The lens has an angle of view of 75-degrees to 32-degrees and max reproduction ratio of 0.34x. It has a 67mm front element and features a 9-bladed rounded aperture diaphragm. The lens has a minimum focusing distance of 7.5 inches at the wide end.
While Nikon already had 24-70mm f/2.8 S lens which was highly rated, it is surprising why Nikon has launched a similar focal length lens. As per Nikon, the new 28-75mm f/2.8 is almost 30% lighter than 24-70mm lens and has a slimmer profile. It weighs just 565 gms which is almost 230 gms lighter than its older sibling.
The lens does not have any image stabilization and will rely on the in camera image stabilization.
The new 28-75mm lens has a customizable control ring that can be customized to change ISO, aperture and exposure compensation. As per Nikon, this lens has minimum focus breathing and is extremely silent.
The 28-70mm f/2.8 lens is dust and water resistant but it is certainly not dust or water proof.

The Nikkor Z 28-75mm lens will be available in Jan 2022 and will be priced at approximately 1,50,000 INR.
