Nikon has unveiled the ultra-compact Nikkor Z 40mm f/2 Prime Lens. Nikon claims that this lens with produce outstanding bokeh and will offer high quality images and videos.
There has been a constant demand for highly compact lenses particularly in video segment and this lens perfectly fits the bill. As per Nikon, this lens is perfect lens for street photography, travel photography and videography.
The new 40mm f/2 lens is highly versatile and can be used on any Nikon Z-Series full frame mirrorless cameras. It can even be used with Dx format (crop sensor) cameras where it has an equivalent focal length of 60mm, which a perfect focal length tor portraits.
The 40mm f/2 lens has 6 elements in 4 groups and it has 9-bladed electromagnetic diaphragm for stable exposures while in continuous mode. The lens is very compact with only 1.8 inches in length and weighing just 170 gms. Owing to f/2 aperture, it delivers a much better low light performance. The 9 bladed aperture ensures you get extraordinary bokeh.
The lens has a minimum focusing distance of 0.29 meter, which makes it perfect option for product and food photography. The lens is also weather sealed making it a highly versatile lens.
