Sigma has unveiled the 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary lens, which as per Sigma is the smallest and lightest f/2.8 zoom lens for APS-C mirrorless cameras.
This apparently is sigma’s first APS-C mirrorless zoom lens and will be available for both E-mount and L-Mount. A 27-75mm equivalent, this will be the versatile lens suitable for wide variety of photography like landscapes, portraits, street, architecture and even events like wedding. Owing to its close focusing distance of 12.1 cm and maximum magnification of 1:2.8, it is also very useful for macro and close-up shots.
The lens is 74.5mm in length and weighs just 290GMS. It has a maximum diameter of 65.4mm
The lens has 13 elements in 10 groups. One is SLD element and 3 are aspherical elements. The lens also uses in-camera aberration correction to eliminate distortion and vignetting. However, this feature may be possible only with select few cameras.
The 18-50mm lens has 7 bladed round aperture and is dust and splash resistant. It also features super multi-layer coating from Sigma.
As per Sigma, owing to the fast and almost silent auto focus, makes it suitable for video production. Sigma also adds that the small form factor of this lens makes it easy to use with gimbal.
The Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary Lens will be available around October end and will be priced at around Rs. 41,000/-
