Sigma have announced their two new prime lenses 90mm f/2.8 DG DN and 24mm f/2 DG DN, for Sony E-Mount and Leica L-Mount .
As per Sigma both lenses have been designed keeping in mind the compact size and performance of all their L-series lenses. These two lenses make total count in L-series lenses to 6. Earlier lenses are 24mm f/3.5, 35mm f/2, 45mm f/2.8 and 65mm f/2.
Sigma said, “Built to the mechanical and operational standards of sigma Cine lenses, in compact mirrorless form, the L-Series have outstanding feel and tone in hand. The feel of the manual focus ring, aperture ring and switches embody true functional beauty.”
Sigma 90mm f/2.8 DG DN Lens
The Sigma 90mm f/2,8 is the longest lens in their L-series line up and is fully suited for mirrorless cameras. It has fast and accurate auto focus system, produces high image quality and beautiful smooth bokeh. Bokeh is super smooth thanks to its 9-blae aperture.
It is 64mm in diameter, 59.7mm long and weighs just 295 gms. The lens has full metal body and uses precision-cut aluminium for its body.
The 90mm lens has 11 elements in 10 groups, which includes 5 SLD glass elements to manage axial chromatic aberration. The lens also has a single-molded aspherical lens to help in getting high-resolution images.
The lens has a minimum focusing distance of 50 cms and magnification ratio of 1:5. The lens boasts of a metal magnetic cap and is dust and splash resistant.
Sigma 24mm f/2 DG DN
Keeping in line with other Sigma L-series lenses, the 24mm f/2 lens is very light and compact. It weighs just 365 grams. It is 70mm in diameter and is 72mm in length.
The 24mm lens has 13 elements in 11 groups which include 2 SLD glass elements and one FLD element. The specialized lens elements help in correcting axial chromatic aberration. The lens also has 2 high precision aspherical elements top achieve high quality images. The aperture has a 9-bladed diaphragm.
It has a minimum focusing distance of 9.7 inches and a magnification ratio of 1:6.7
Both 90mm and 24mm lenses use stepping motor for fast AF performance. Just like 90mm, the 24mm lens also is all metal body and is dust & splash resistant.
Both these lenses will be priced at $639 and should be available from late September
