Tamron has announced the launch of its 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di III-A VC VXD lens fopr Sony E-Mount and Fujifilm X-Mount. This lens will be Tamron’t first lens for Fujifilm X-Mount.
Interestingly this will probably the world’s first 16.6x all in one zoom lens for the APS-C Sensor. It has 27-450mm in 35mm equivalent. The lens has a minimum focusing distance of 5.9 inches and a magnification ratio of 1:2.
The lens uses VXD linear motor focus system, which is proprietary feature of Tamron. This mechanism allows fast and precise auto focus, which Tamron claims, is the best across all brands in this category.
As per Tamron, the autofocus is consistent throughout the zoom range and is ideal for tracking moving subjects like animals, cars etc.
The lens has 19 elements in 15 groups which include 3 aspherical elements and 4 low dispersion elements which will help reduce optical aberrations.
If Tamron is to be believed, this lens is one of the best performing zoom lens for APS-C sensor. The lens elements are arranged in a balanced way to achieve 16.6 magnification ratio which ensuring that image quality is not compromised.
The 18-300mm lens has 7-bladed circular diaphragm and a 67mm filter size.
